Dr. Kristian Sorbo has over 13 years of experience in the UK and the US, bringing a wealth of knowledge including expertise in echocardiograms, sonography, general surgery, and emergency and critical care as well as a deep passion for animal care to our clinic. Dr. Sorbo grew up in Norway, where his love for animals sparked during his summer job milking cows! Known for his warm, friendly demeanor, Dr. Sorbo meets pet parents where they are on their pet care journey, ensuring every visit is a comfortable and reassuring experience. As Veterinary Medical Director, he will lead our medical team with expertise and compassion, enhancing our services to support the health and well-being of your pets.
When not at work, Dr. Sorbo can be found hiking, skiing, and biking throughout New England and spending time with his wife and their young son. Their family also includes Sophie Spitfire—a cat whose name doesn’t quite match her sweet and gentle personality.
Dr. Denise Trapani specializes in comprehensive care for dogs, cats, exotics, and small pocket animals and has a dedicated background in wildlife rehabilitation, volunteering with numerous animal rescue organizations. She is an accomplished veterinarian and founded the Animal Health Center in Plainville, MA. Her passion for blending traditional and complementary healing practices ensures a holistic approach to patient care which perfectly integrates with our philosophy of 360º of Happy Health®! She is committed to animal rescue and with over 30 years of Veterinary experience, she strives to continuously deliver compassionate, high-quality care to pets and their people, making her a wonderful addition to our JM family. Outside of caring for her patients, Dr. Trapani enjoys cooking, reading, and gardening—just ask her about her roses!
Dr. April Paul, DACVECC, is a board-certified emergency and critical care specialist with over 20 years of experience. She has served as a course director and instructor at Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, where she dedicated herself to educating future veterinarians. A key member of the National Veterinary Response Team, Dr. Paul has deployed to disaster areas to provide vital care. Her volunteer work includes spay/neuter initiatives in underserved communities, both domestically and internationally.
An advocate for animal welfare, Dr. Paul has been actively involved with organizations like the Humane Society of the United States and the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association. Widely respected for her expertise, she has authored numerous publications and presentations advancing veterinary medicine. Her dedication to the human-animal bond and compassionate approach makes her a valued member of the JM Pet Resort & Veterinary Clinic team, where she supports our mission of fostering lifelong, harmonious relationships between people and their pets.
Dr. Michelle Brown grew up in Plymouth, MA with a passion for animals. Always interested in science, Dr. Brown worked in the biomedical research field prior to finding her calling in veterinary care. Dr. Brown has worked at many highly recognized hospitals in Massachusetts, and also served as a medical director for many years assuring quality patient care and oversight of hospital finance. Her experience also includes performing high-volume spays & neuters of cats and dogs, helping to address causes of pet homelessness. Dr. Brown lives with her husband, two sons, and a dog named Daisy (aka "crazy Daisy"). Outside of work, she loves being in the mountains, hiking, boating, and kayaking.
Dr. Susanne Szekely has 12 years of veterinary medicine and surgery experience working as an emergency room doctor. In that time, she pursued advanced training in surgery, neuro-surgery, anesthesia, and dentistry to bring top-notch surgical care to her patients. In 2021, Dr. Szekely completed her certification as a Veterinary Dental Practitioner through the International Veterinary Dental Institute. When she's not in the Clinic, Dr. Szekely enjoys skiing, paddling, gardening and cultivating mushrooms. She has two dogs of her own: Sprocket, a 13- year-old ball-crazed Labradoodle, and a rambunctious 1-year old mutt named Mars.
Dr. Elise Durville has 5 years of veterinary medicine and emergency room experience at hospitals including Angell West and the Animal Medical Center of New England. She is skilled in intensive care with a particular interest in integrative medicine and diagnostics. When she's not caring for animals, Dr. Durville can often be found caring for plants; exploring all things gardening and sustainable agriculture! She shares her home with three adorable kitty residents: Tesla, Shadow, and Ghost.
Dr. Fiocchi received her undergraduate degree from Vassar College in 2004 and Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. While completing her clinical training at Tufts University, Dr. Fiocchi developed a love for small animal internal medicine and living in beautiful Massachusetts. Following veterinary school, Dr. Fiocchi completed a small animal rotating internship in medicine and surgery at the Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in Norwalk, CT and a three-year residency in small animal internal medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Fiocchi enjoys all aspects of internal medicine and is invested in enabling pet owners to provide the best care possible for their pets by helping them understand the disease process at play. When not at work Dr. Fiocchi is busy with her family on their small farm raising sheep and honey bees.
