Training Consultation
Prior to enrolling in any of our Group Classes, start by scheduling a $40 Training Consultation for you and your dog. In this 30-minute session, you and your dog will meet with one of our Motivational Dog Trainers one-on-one.
Once you’ve completed a Training Consultation, our Trainer will work with you to enroll your pup in any group classes, clinics, or other services that will benefit your dog and help them to become the best version of themselves.
MOTIVATIONAL DOG TRAINING
We believe in changing a dog’s behavior by using teachable moments to create success while rewarding positive behavior. Our philosophy is that you, as an owner, can be a trusted “pack leader” in a manner that teaches, supports, and motivates your dog without using fear or intimidation. Learning how to properly use your voice and body movements, while building confidence, is an integral part of our training program. We combine our expertise in dog training with compassion and support to help you and your pup develop a lifelong harmonious relationship.
Book Your $40 Training Consultation To Get Started
Prior to enrolling in any of our Group Classes, start by scheduling a $40 Training Consultation for you and your dog. Think of this as a mini private training session, to start you off on the right paw!
In this 30-minute session, you and your dog will meet with one of our Motivational Dog Trainers one-on-one. This gives you the opportunity to explain your goals for your pet’s training, ask any questions you’d like, and allows our Trainer a chance to get to know your dog as an individual. They will make personalized recommendations based on your fur-baby’s temperament, behavior, and your training goals.
Once you’ve completed a Training Consultation, our Trainer will work with you to enroll your pup in any group classes, clinics, or other services that will benefit your dog and help them to become the best version of themselves.

Who is this good for?
For puppies 3 months – 5 months old
$175 - 5 classes (1 hour per week)
In this class, you will learn how to teach your dog to automatic sit, sit-stay, down-stay, come when called, and other fun basic commands. Our class is uniquely designed to allow PLAYtrain® time where all puppies socialize together supporting the notion of positive behavior. We also use in-class motivational tools to make each class stimulating and fun. You’ll learn valuable information to use at home for house training, crate training, games for name reinforcement, proper puppy care, appropriate toys, and nutrition. By taking this class, you will have a safer, happier, healthier, and more confident pup.

Who is this good for?
For puppies 6 months – 10 months old
$175 - 5 classes (1 hour per week)
This class builds on the skills learned in Puppy Kindergarten. We continue to focus on leadership skills, puppy socialization, and the precise timing of obedience commands. Now that your puppy is getting bigger, we will help you with strategies on proper leash control. New in-house motivational tools will be introduced so your pup gets used to new experiences and situations. Home management skills will address behaviors such as marking issues, puppy nipping and biting, barking, counter surfing, and other common issues.

Who is this good for?
For dogs 10 months & older
$175 - 5 classes (1 hour per week)
Your dog will enjoy learning more advanced commands as we continue to build on canine vocabulary. Commands such as sit (good greeting manners), auto sit, leave it, down (eliminating sit first), release word, stand, finish, back, and many others. Our trainers focus on refining and tuning your basic handling skills. There will be a primary focus on loose leash walking for enjoyable walks as your puppy is almost full-grown. We continue to work on home issues such as: Jumping up, nipping, biting, eating rocks or toys, and digging. We also include time for free play, so the dogs learn to interact and play appropriately.

Who is this good for?
For dogs 6 months & older

The “Here” cue is perhaps the most important one you can teach your dog. It’s essential to maintaining good behavior and vital in an emergency. Is it time to leave the dog park? A good rocket recall will save you from exasperating games of chase when it’s time to go home. In this clinic, we’ll focus on recall games and show you how you can build a solid, reliable recall in a fun and easy way!

Who is this good for?

Have you noticed more "pull" than "walk" in your daily strolls? You're not alone! Teaching a dog to walk on a loose leash is one of the most difficult behaviors owners must contend with. This class will help you learn the techniques you need to have to walk your dog politely on a leash without pulling, lunging, or dragging and learn not to jump on your family and friends! We will discuss equipment options, training methods, and practice techniques for keeping your dog focused on YOU during your walks.

Who is this good for?
For dogs 6 months & older

This is a behavior modification class designed for those dogs that overreact in public settings towards humans, canines, or both. The behaviors displayed are generally disruptive with aggressive tendencies which usually manifest in the form of barking, lunging, growling, baring teeth, and snapping.
This class will help desensitize your dog to the object that makes them feel uncomfortable and give you the tools and confidence to successfully manage the situation. We accomplished this through positive motivation and redirection techniques.

Private Training Lessons are scheduled on an individual basis. Instruction will cover all basic obedience commands, and we will help to solve any problems that you may be encountering with your pet. Using our motivational training philosophy combined with our Health4PETS® approach to wellness, we will cover all basic obedience commands and help to solve any problems that you may be encountering with your pet. Or, sessions can be held at our facility and geared to your specific needs.

Canine Good Citizen® Certification Test
The Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Test is a nationally recognized program by the American Kennel Club (AKC) that evaluates your dog’s manners and obedience. This 10-skill test is designed to ensure dogs are polite in public and that owners are responsible pet parents. Achieving CGC certification is a great step toward building a well-behaved companion and can open doors for further training opportunities.
Why Get CGC Certified?
Earning the Canine Good Citizen title offers several benefits, including:
- A well-mannered dog in public – Demonstrates that your pup can remain calm, friendly, and obedient in different environments.
- A stepping-stone for therapy or emotional support work – Many therapy dog programs use CGC as a prerequisite for certification.
- Helpful for housing and insurance – Some landlords and insurance providers recognize CGC certification, especially for breeds with restrictions.
What Does the Canine Good Citizen Test Involve?
Your dog will be evaluated on key skills that demonstrate their politeness, obedience, and reliability. The 10 test items include:

Test 3: Appearance and Grooming
Test 4: Out For a Walk (Walking on a Loose Lead)
Test 5: Walking Through a Crowd

Important Testing Guidelines
To pass the CGC Test, dogs must complete all exercises without the use of training tools, such as treats, prong collars, e-collars, or head halters. Handlers may use a flat collar or harness and a 6-foot leash during the test.
Ready to Prove Your Dog’s Good Citizenship?
Once your pup has mastered these skills, one of our certified CGC Evaluators can administer the test for a $50 fee.
Please note: As of January 29, 2025, JM Pet Resort offers CGC Testing only and does not provide specific training classes to prepare for the test.

$1,750 – 14-day boarding stay

Our 14-Day Board & Train dogs are our cherished visitors that stay with us for 14 days while we train them using motivational-based techniques that reward positive behavior. Modifying a dog’s behavior is not a quick fix, but some behavior modification issues can start to be corrected in 14 days. These behaviors can include (but are not limited to) crate training, leash manners, bolting through open doorways, and counter surfing. Still, this training requires consistency, along with positive reinforcement, which in turn leads to motivated learning over time.
- Socialization skills are enhanced through our PLAYtrain® Doggie Daycare program where pets are placed in a specialized playgroup
- We teach them to be well behaved in public places and with new people
- We focus on their growth and development
- Our Health4PETS® Liaisons perform morning, afternoon and evening check-ins to make sure each pup is feeling happy and healthy during their entire stay.
Each Board & Train program is personalized to meet the needs of the dog. We master basic commands and train the dog to be a well-adjusted, mentally healthy, family pet that will learn to behave at home and with others. At the end of the training program, we will transfer the training techniques to you for continued and consistent use. These transformations speak for themselves!
